MOTHERHOOD: THANKFUL KIDS

Earlier this week I was sharing with my team how becoming a mom really changed my outlook on life. Gabe's birth instantly put things into perspective for me; now I live every day for him. One of my missions is to teach him the values that really make for a rich life and I believe that starts with gratitude. With Thanksgiving right around the corner, there's no better time to reinforce this virtue--even with a two year old. I recently came across an article on Mothermag.com about how to raise thankful kids and I liked the tips they shared.

Here's a few to easy ways to incorporate giving thanks all year round:

1. We should teach our children about gratitude and why it matters. Gratefulness keeps the blessings flowing, it's giving and receiving.

2. Make thankfulness part of your family culture--it's not just what we do, it's who we are.

3. Practice thankfulness. Be an example by thanking those who do you a service throughout the day. Teach your kids to say "thank you" whether it's to a teacher, a friend or a neighbor.

4. Count your blessings. Take time to appreciate the things we tend to take for granted.
